BattlEye

Published: 27.08.2019 Edited: 14.01.2025

BattlEye by BattlEye Innovations from Reutlingen (Germany) is like Easy Anti-Cheat or PunkBuster a software that monitors players with the help of various identifiers during their own game session.

Another disadvantage of using BattlEye is its incompatibility with various programs and even with the operating system itself. In a self-test, components of Stardock's Start 10 and Proxifier by Initex were simply disabled.

The Microsoft Corporation warned in another post that there is an incompatibility with older versions of BattlEye and outdated BattlEye software crashes Windows version 1903

Player data collected includes

IP address, in-game names, account IDs, hardware identifiers (serial numbers of devices or MAC address), information about the operating system, installed software, TCP table scan, scan of running processes, monitoring of the Steam overlay, drivers, other executable files, memory reading etc.

Location on the system

BattlEye installation files are located in the game directory of each title, while BattlEye itself embeds itself in the system. The structure consists of several components.

    BEService.exe
  1. Windows system service that communicates with the BattlEye server BEServer and provides various BEClient-server-client communication functions for BEDaisy.
  2. BEDaisy.sys
  3. Windows kernel driver that registers preventive callbacks and mini-filters to prevent cheaters from illegally modifying the game.
  4. BEClient
  5. Windows dynamic link library responsible for most detection vectors. The client is integrated into the game process after initialization.
  6. BEServer
  7. Proprietary backend server responsible for collecting information and taking concrete actions against cheaters.
