The European Commission is preparing a reform of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The aim is to simplify existing regulations, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. The fundamental principles of data protection are to remain unaffected.

The "Stop Destroying Videogames" initiative calls for video games sold or licensed in the European Union to remain functional. Specifically, the initiative seeks to prevent the remote disabling of videogames by the publishers, before providing reasonable means to continue functioning of said videogames without the involvement from the side of the publisher.
